Airline SPI Monitoring System

According to ICAO Annex 6, Safety Management Systems (SMS) are required of all stakeholders in air traffic. Since 2012, a special tool for measuring safety in aviation companies has been available specifically for the needs of airlines, the SPI Monitoring System, which is in use at Lufthansa Cargo (LCAG). Within the framework of maintenance contracts, we ensure continuous improvement of our systems with our customers.

With the SPI Monitoring System, the continuous measurement and monitoring of operational safety in the company required in an SMS is made possible by means of sophisticated indicators (SPI). In the current release, the Flight Operations and Maintenance divisions are implemented. Standardized process models from flight operations and maintenance management (IATA, CAME) are taken into account to ensure transferability of the measured values with QM data already available in the company. Incidents that must be reported to EASA (§5 reports) and safety reports are also analyzed.

With regard to data protection, a special data management concept was developed for the SPI Monitoring System. Confidential primary data of the company (especially FODA data) are consolidated and only temporarily kept in the system for the SPI calculation. For the presentation of the results, the data is aggregated to ensure the necessary anonymization.

Customers who have integrated the SPI Monitoring System can later easily benefit from updated versions via our reliable remote upgrade procedure. Targeted adaptations to specific company requirements are possible due to the system architecture.

With our SPI Monitoring System, GfL offers a tool for the systematic collection, visualization and evaluation of relevant measurement data to meet legal requirements as well as an effective control instrument for your aviation company in the sense of Safety First.
