GfL completes impact analysis of new, intended departure and approach procedures for Zurich airport within the „Operating Scheme 2014 (BR2014)“ - Presentation of the results in Waldshut

February 2016 | Airport Planning

On February 22nd, GfL presented the results of their impact analysis of the intended re-design of current departure and approach procedures for Zurich airport within the so-called „BR2014“ and in particular the associated “East Concept”. Among the invited guests were citizens’ initiatives, politicians, Zurich airport representatives and the press: According to our results, the implementation of the “BR2014” concept would lead to an obvious increase in overflights over Southern German territory during times of the intended east concepts being active. The search for alternatives with the least additional strain on Germany has been thoroughly conducted. The greatest challenge here was to identically ensure the ICAO requirements for process planning (ICAO PANS OPS) to be met to guarantee safe flight operations. The results could show that valid alternatives do exist.
