EuroAirport Basel/Mulhouse/Freiburg Societal Risk Assessment

June 2021 | Safety Assessment

The Swiss Department of Economic, Social and Environmental Affairs of the Canton of Basel-City, in cooperation with the responsible German and French aviation authorities, is launching the assessment of the External (societal) risks around the EuroAirport. GfL was awarded the contract to carry out the risk analysis, which will include not only a snapshot of today's flight operations and demographic data in the region but also future flight operational scenarios. GfL already carried out an assessment of the External Risk around the airfield as long as 20 years ago. The results will be presented publicly. For GfL, this mandate is the confirmation of our leading modeling and assessment strategy of aviation related risks around airports, which is constantly being updated over the years. Before the COVID pandemic, the EuroAirport handled a yearly passenger volume of app. 9 million.
