Planning approval concerning runway length and risk compatibility for the 3rd runway at Munich airport

July 2011 | Airport Planning

Since 2007 GfL supports the Flughafen München GmbH in creating application documents for topics named above within the scope of the planning approval process. Finally the Upper Bavarian Government issued the resolution of the planning approval application from Flughafen München GmbH (FMGH) for building a 3rd runway at Munich airport. This resolution was announced to the FMG by the Upper Bavarian Government at 26.07.2011. GfL recommended a length of 4000m. Within the governments resolution on page 404 it says: “The runway length of 4000m is necessary for traffic management of aircraft operating on alternative 5b and also for the functionality of the airport system both on the landside and on the airside. A reduction…is an additional option for extension…”. The whole resolution can be found on: www.regierung.oberbayern.bayern.de.
