GfL delivers report on assessment of flight safety risks of holding points at Frankfurt Airport

July 2014 | Safety Assessment

GfL delivers the final report about “Safety Assessment for non-ICAO compliant holding points in approach and departure sectors of runways 25L/07R and 25C/07C at Frankfurt Airport” to Fraport AG and finishes the studies.

According to the planning permission for the new northwest runway from 2007 Frankfurt Airport enhances and modifies the holding points in the eastern and western region of the parallel runway system. These clearance positions could be in conflict with ICAO and EASA guidelines. GfL developed and successfully used models for determination of possible collision risks of airplanes waiting on ground and approaching or departing airplanes. The result of the researches was a proof of safe flight operations at Frankfurt Airport.
