Norwegian ANSP AVINOR assigns update of runway capacity assessment for Oslo airport

January 2017 | Airport Planning

In 2006 GfL first assessed the capacity of the parallel runway system at Oslo. At that time, the planning vision of a third runway for Norway’s largest airport was focused. This masterplan ist still valid, however several extensions on the airside were realized in the meantime. Furthermore innovative approach and departure procedures were implemented, inter alia the Point Merge System (PMS) and RNP AR approach procedures. GfL has been awarded the contract by Norwegian ANSP AVINOR (also operating the Oslo airport) to extensively update the capacity values of the runway system. Therefore, analytical Statistical Queuing Models as well as fast-time simulations will be used. Results are expected for May 2017.
