Completion of a study on the construction of a Vertiport at a German airport

GfL has successfully completed a study on the construction of a Vertiport at a German airport as part of a high-rise building project. As part of this study, a general feasibility study was conducted for the analysis, planning, and evaluation of a vertiport during the preliminary planning phase. Requirements from national aviation law, European regulations, and building law were taken into account to ensure that the preliminary planning would be approvable given the current prototype status of eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft.
The study included layout planning, an obstacle analysis, an analysis of expected noise emissions in the vicinity of the airport, and the development of an approvable functional design for an operational concept. This included passenger flow management - including safety and security measures - the design of functional areas, an analysis of technical infrastructure requirements, and an evacuation and emergency concept.
In addition, GfL developed a business model that enables the determination of the expected hourly number of flight movements and the calculation of the corresponding passenger numbers based on the seating capacity of the specified reference aircraft, as well as a cost-benefit analysis for the Vertiport operator.
